Paramount Pictures is back in Dutchess. Section of road to be closed

Paramount Pictures is back in Dutchess County, and a road will be closed in a similar spot where the film production company has previously been.

The area, according to the Dutchess County Department of Public Works, is a quarter-mile section of West Dover Road/County Route 20 near Blackberry Road, located in the towns of Dover and Pawling.

West Dover Road will be closed from Thursday, July 23, to Sunday, August 9. The film production is a closed set, according to the county, and the road will be opened on Aug. 10.

The working title of the film Paramount Pictures shared with the county, according to Communications Director Colleen Pillus, is “Little Falls.”

In September 2019, another Paramount Pictures film, “A Quiet Place Part II,” directed and co-written by John Krasinski of television’s “The Office,” was also filmed in a quarter-mile section of West Dover Road near Blackberry Road, according to a previous report from the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The movie starred Emily Blunt, Krasinski’s wife.

Even further back, from May to November 2017, “A Quiet Place,” also directed by Krasinski, was filmed in Pawling, Beacon and New Paltz, as well as Ulster County, as per that Poughkeepsie Journal report, in which both Krasinski and Blunt appeared.

The county stated a detour will be posted redirecting traffic over Route 22 via Pleasant Ridge Road and River Road.

Additionally, residents will have full access to their properties throughout the production, and emergency services and postal services have been notified of the closure.

“We’re delighted that Dutchess County has again been chosen as a filming location,” Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said in a statement. “Productions like this bring real economic and promotional benefits to Dutchess County, showcasing the beauty and character of our area and bringing millions of dollars into our local communities. The benefits last long after filming wraps as these productions showcase our communities to wider audiences and support future tourism and investment. We understand the road closure can cause some inconvenience for nearby residents, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we make this exciting opportunity possible.”

In May, the City of Poughkeepsie was the filming location for a zombie action and horror movie dubbed “Zero Protocol,” starring Rebecca Hall, according to IMDB.

The county highlighted that Dutchess also hosted filming for Netflix’s “The Four Seasons,” featuring Tina Fey, Will Forte, Colman Domingo and Steve Carell, as well as Fox’s “Best Medicine” series, with Josh Charles, Abigail Spencer and Josh Segarra.

The county stated film production in the region had an $86 million economic impact in 2025, including more than $28 million in Dutchess County, according to an annual report from the Hudson Valley Film Commission to Destination Dutchess.
