New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is making a strong impression on his coaches this spring.
Giants coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy handed over the team’s playbook to their franchise quarterback on Tuesday. Both Harbaugh and Nagy are entering their first season with the Giants.
Developing a strong rapport with Dart is a top priority for the architects of the Giants’ offense during Phase One of New York’s offseason program.
During his Zoom conference on Tuesday, Harbaugh said he was pleased to see Dart diving into the Giants’ offensive schematics with excitement on the first day of the program.
“Today was the first day for football, the first day we had a chance to talk football. What I witnessed was the first install, which is just the very first example of how we’re going to build the offense. That’s what was put in today. I saw that put in. I saw him reacting to it, interacting. I asked him what he thought about it. Seemed excited. Just kind of dipping our toe in the water today with that,” he said,
“But it was fun to see offense up on the screen and Jaxson right there taking his notes. That was awesome. It was a good start.”
Dart met Nagy’s expectations from the moment the former Kansas City Chiefs championship-winning offensive coordinator first saw the Ole Miss product before the 2025 NFL draft, and that impression has only strengthened since Nagy arrived in New York this year. Nagy offered more praise on Tuesday.
“I remember at the combine, when we (Kansas City) were not really in the quarterback market, watching him and just observing how he handled himself in that group of guys,” Nagy said. “You could see the moxie he had, and he had this ‘it’ factor.
“When I got here to New York and got to meet him and started talking to him, you could tell right away that everything was true. This kid is different in that way.”
Dart’s personality was on full display during his rookie season, when he showed flashes of brilliance with several big plays throughout the year. He completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards in 2025.
The Utah native expressed his admiration for Harbaugh earlier in the offseason. Dart will continue with meetings as well as strength and conditioning work during Phase One of the offseason program before taking part in on-field activities under the guidance of Harbaugh and Nagy in Phase Two.
The three will be tasked with leading the Giants to more wins in 2026 behind an improved offense.
