Man charged with rape, burglary after investigation by Corning police

A 29-year-old man was charged with rape, burglary, tampering with physical evidence and intimidating a victim after Corning Police responded to a report of sexual assault at a Corning residence. 

Jonathan A. Rivaldo was arraigned Tuesday, July 14 in Steuben County Centralized Arraignment Court and sent to the Steuben County Jail without bail. He will reappear in Steuben County Court at a later date.

Corning City Police Chief Kenzie Spaulding said the investigation and subsequent arrest was conducted by members of the Corning Police Department.  

Rivaldo was charged with three counts of first-degree rape, one count of first-degree burglary, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and one count of second-degree intimidating a victim. 

The identity of the victim is being withheld, Spaulding said, and no additional information will be released at this time to protect the victim’s privacy and the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
