Love movies but hate ticket prices? These libraries have free films

If you love watching movies but can’t always afford to go to theaters, several area libraries offer free options, many of them every month.

“The Fall Guy,” loosely based on the 1980s TV series, will be shown from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, and 2 to 4:15 p.m. Friday, May 22, in the Fairport Public Library’s Community Room, 1 Fairport Village Landing. It’s part of the Fairport Feature Films monthly series, featuring a variety of films with one time in the afternoon and one in the evening.

Phillis Wheatley Community Library’s Teen Movie Night will be held in the Meeting Room, 33 Dr. Samuel McCree Way, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27. Snacks will be served.

“Halloween” will be shown from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, in the Seymour Library’s Local History Room, 161 East Ave., Brockport. People always vote on a selection of four movies according to a theme for the month following a presentation. The voting station is on a shelf near the New Books section.

Movie Matinee at GPL features recent movies the second Thursday of every month at the Gates Public Library’s Meeting Room, 902 Elmgrove Road. The next film will be shown from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 11.

“The Housemaid,” based on Freida McFadden’s novel, will be shown from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. in Pittsford Community Library’s Fisher Meeting Room, 24 State St. It’s part of the Fabulous Films @ the Library series.

“Super Fun Friday Movies” will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, June 26, in the Jacobs Family Reading Room at Mendon Public Library, 22 N. Main St., Honeoye Falls.
