The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide on Pittsford Palmyra Road in the Town of Perinton.
Man shot to death
Deputies were called to 7323 Pittsford Palmyra Road around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, for the report of a deceased man, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Brendan Hurley said.
Emergency responders arrived and found a man dead at the scene with at least one gunshot wound, Hurley said during a Wednesday morning news conference.
According to the sheriff’s office, Major Crimes investigators are actively gathering information related to the fatal shooting. Crime scene technicians are collecting and processing evidence, Hurley said. The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene.
No ongoing threat to the community, officials say
Authorities said there is no evidence at this time to suggest any ongoing threat to the community.
“It’s still very early in the investigation,” Hurley said.
No additional information was immediately released.
The apartment is located within a mixed-use building on Pittsford Palmyra Road near Thayer Road in Perinton, about a mile east of Turk Hill Road.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call 911.
