The New York Giants have interviewed Arizona State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo for their vacant quarterbacks coach position, reports NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Arroyo, 46, has extensive college experience, with only one prior NFL stint as quarterbacks coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014.
A former quarterback at San Jose State University — where he set multiple school passing records — Arroyo began coaching in 2003 and has held offensive coordinator and quarterbacks positions at programs including Wyoming, Southern Miss, Oregon (where he helped lead an 11-2 season and Rose Bowl win in 2019), and UNLV, serving as head coach there from 2020-2022 with a 7-23 record.
Arroyo joined Arizona State in 2024 as OC and QB coach, contributing to recruiting and development efforts.
The potential addition of Arroyo aligns with new Giants head coach John Harbaugh’s staff-building, following the hiring of offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. Arroyo’s familiarity with Giants running back Cam Skattebo (a 2024 Arizona State standout) and connections to Harbaugh’s network — such as past work with assistants like Willie Taggart — could factor in.
The interview reflects a focus on quarterback development, particularly for prospects like Jaxson Dart.
No decision has been announced, with clarity expected soon as Arizona State gears up for spring practices.
