Forecasters say storms could develop during the afternoon and evening, with the potential for damaging wind gusts as the main hazard across much of western New York, including the Rochester region.

Along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, storms may also bring locally stronger winds and higher waves, creating hazardous conditions for boaters.

Flooding possible in some areas

Heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to minor ponding on roads and localized flooding, especially in areas where the ground is already saturated.

This risk extends across western and north-central New York, including Wayne, Cayuga and Oswego counties.
