Oasis student captures Lee County High School Student of the Week honors

And the winner is …

Congratulations to Emily Feichthaler of Oasis High School! Emily is the Lee County High School Student of the Week for Feb. 2-5.

Emily, a “a leader in academics, service, athletics, and performing arts”, finished on top of the voting with 49.84% of the votes that were cast. It was a very close race. Runner-up Noah Spalding of Fort Myers High School received 42.67% of the votes.

Emily Feichthaler-Oasis High School

Emily Feichthaler is a leader in academics, service, athletics, and performing arts. She received top honors at the District 7 Thespian Competition in Coral Springs earning top honors and superior ratings and qualifying for states in three events. Emily is one of 1,200 students out of over 107,000 applicants chosen as a Coca-Cola Scholars Semifinalist. As a junior, Emily led national initiatives in disaster recovery and preparedness as Team Lead of the National FEMA Youth Council. Locally, she led the Cape Coral Youth Council as Vice Chair. Emily has served over 550 hours as a Kiwanis Thrift Store volunteer, an usher at several community theaters, and a regular Adopt-A-Road cleanup volunteer. For her exemplary volunteer service, Emily has earned multiple national service awards. Emily has sung the National Anthem at Minnesota Twins Spring Training, Florida Everblades games, and City of Palms Classic games. She has played lead roles in multiple school and local productions and performed with the Carnegie Hall Honors Choir and Florida All-State Choirs. Emily leads the Varsity Tennis team as a multi-year Captain, MVP, and #1 singles and doubles player. Emily has earned a weighted GPA of over a 5.50 and an AICE Diploma with Merit. We are proud to nominate Emily as Student of the Week!

Noah Spalding-Fort Myers High School

Fort Myers High School would like to nominate Noah Spalding as our Student of the Week.

This week we are proud to recognize Noah Spalding, a standout 10th grader who truly represents what it means to be a well-rounded Greenie.

Noah balances a demanding schedule with impressive dedication. He is actively involved in lacrosse, football, weightlifting, and band, showing commitment both on the field and in the music room. Through all of this, he maintains an outstanding 3.88 GPA as a PRE-IB student, demonstrating strong academic focus and discipline.

Beyond his achievements, Noah is known for his honesty, kindness, and outgoing personality. He brings a great sense of humor wherever he goes and isn’t afraid to be unique, which makes him someone others enjoy being around. His positive attitude and respectful nature leave a lasting impression on classmates and teachers alike.

Looking ahead, Noah hopes to one day own a restoration company, combining leadership, hard work, and hands-on skills to build something of his own.

Fahim Khan-Bishop Verot High School

Bishop Verot Catholic High School is proud to nominate senior Fahim Khan for Lee County Student of the Week. Fahim is an exceptional academic and a standout member of our senior class. He has completed a rigorous course load consisting of Honors and Advanced Placement classes and is a distinguished member of our prestigious Scholars’ Academy. Fahim is an AP Scholar with Distinction and earned the highly respected AP Capstone Diploma. Beyond his academic achievements, Fahim distinguishes himself through his character and the way he engages with both peers and adults. He is consistently kind, respectful, thoughtful, and demonstrates integrity in all he does. Fahim’s global perspective further sets him apart. His family is originally from Bangladesh, which he visits regularly. During a trip in 2024, Fahim found himself in the midst of a national revolution, witnessing protests and uprisings firsthand. This powerful experience had a profound impact on him and became the inspiration for his yearlong AP Research project, in which he analyzed and evaluated drone engineering for use in humanitarian aid efforts. His innovative work earned him the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology, as well as a $20,000 scholarship to the Rochester University. Outside the classroom, Fahim enjoys kickboxing and archery, pursuits that reflect his discipline, focus, and drive. Bishop Verot Catholic High School is incredibly proud to recognize Fahim Khan for his academic excellence, leadership, and character, and we are honored to have him as a member of our school community.

Addison “Addy” Valiquette-Evangelical Christian School

Addison “Addy” Valiquette is a Senior at Evangelical Christian School (ECS) who is known for her commitment to both leadership and service. She is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and proudly serves as Treasurer. Addy has been involved in Girls Bible Study throughout her high school years and has served as Yearbook Editor-in-Chief for the past two years.

Addy is also an active member of the Prayer Team and Pep Club and is a Sentinel Scholar candidate. Outside of school, she enjoys serving her church through childcare and sports camps. Her heart for service has led her on multiple mission trips, including two to Mexico and trips to Italy and Japan. Looking ahead, Addy plans to attend college and pursue a career as a pediatric nurse, where she hopes to make a positive difference in the lives of children and their families.

Stella Ortiz-Ida S. Baker High School

Baker’s nomination this week is 10th grader Stella Ortiz. Stella is a joy to have on campus and consistently makes a positive impression on everyone around her. Stella is a phenomenal student! She is kind, respectful, driven, and tenacious. She is never afraid to try things on her own and ask for help. She goes out of her way to ensure that she is doing the best she can everyday. Outside of the classroom, Stella makes sure to say hello to her teachers on her way to her classes and is always seen cheering up and helping her peers. Her positivity, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others make her a wonderful role model and truly deserving of this recognition.
