Ohio State football Spring Game live updates, score and highlights

It’s spring in the upper Midwest, and that means snow has given way to variable weather and sunshine. With it, the Ohio State football team has gotten back on the field for its spring practices, and it all culminates with the annual Spring Game on Saturday.

Throughout the football season, we were there with live updates, and we’re doing the same for this glorified scrimmage in the ‘Shoe, so stay with us a little before, during, and after the game for some analysis and reaction.

We are underway on the banks of the Olentangy, so follow along.

The defense gets two points for a stop

The offense punts the ball, and the defense now trails 17-7 as the first quarter comes to an end.

St. Clair hits Hernry Jr. for the long touchdown

In what may be something we say a lot in the future, quarterback St. Clair hits Henry for a 40-yard highlight-worthy touchdown, and the offense has it rolling. That side of the ball now leads 17-5. There are under two minutes left in the first quarter.

Sayin is intercepted

The ball is tipped at the line, and Beau Atkinson gets the tip for an interception. That gives the defense a score, and the scoreboard now reads 10-5 offense with 3:38 left in the first quarter.

The transfer Hawkins nails the field goal

Connor Hawkins nails the field goal, and the offense now leads 10-0. It’s a good start for that side of the ball because the defense has been the better unit thus far in the game. Defense does get two points for the stop, so the score is now 10-2 offense with 5:09 in the first quarter.

Freshman phenom, Chris Henry Jr. gets his first catch

Speaking of the future, Henry hauls in a missile from St. Clair for a long gain down the left sideline

Tavien St. Clair now gets time at QB

He may be the future of the position, and he’s just one snap away from that occurring, so it’ll be good to see how he does in a game setting.

Julian Sayin gets the TD

On 4th and goal, Sayin pulls it down and gets around the edge and just inside the pile-on for six points. The offense leads 7-0 with 8:24 left in the first quarter.

Offense is inside the ten-yard line

We’ll see if they can pay it off. We may not see the starting unit for very long.

Reminder, it’s offense vs. defense in this format

The scoring will be a little different, but stay with us and we’ll try to figure it out.

Jeremiah Smith probably would have scored

Julian Sayin hits Smith on a slant, and because of the rules, he’s touched down. It’s unlikely he would have been tackled and most likely would have taken it to the house.
