A former Penn State football player who was involved in a fatal all terrain vehicle crash in Bradford County last year will serve at least nine months in prison.
Julian E. Crushshon-Fleming, 25, of Elysburg, Pennsylvania, was injured in an ATV crash May 23, 2025 on Painter Lick Drive in Columbia Township, near the Bradford-Tioga County border, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Towanda.
Crushshon-Fleming was operating a 2024 Yamaha ATV northbound on Painter Lick Drive when the vehicle struck a deer that jumped into the roadway, troopers said. A dead deer was located at the scene.
Crushshon-Fleming and a passenger, Alyssa D. Boyd, 23, of Bloomburg, Pennsylvania, were both thrown from the ATV when it collided with the deer. Boyd suffered extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither were wearing helmets, troopers said.
Following an investigation, Crushshon-Fleming was later charged with homicide by motor vehicle while DUI and related charges.
He was eventually convicted for driving under the influence of alcohol and involuntary manslaughter. In Bradford County Court, Crushshon-Fleming was sentenced to nine months to 23 months incarceration followed by six months probation.
“This was an extremely unfortunate case,” said Bradford County District Attorney Richard Wilson. “While we were confident that we could prove Crushshon-Fleming committed a DUI offense, proving the connection between that and the death of the victim would be difficult. While Crushshon-Fleming’s intoxication did not help matters, a jury would likely conclude that the collision with the deer caused the riders to crash, and therefore the victim’s death, not the alcohol intoxication.”
Crushshon-Fleming was a football standout who was a wide receiver for Ohio State before transferring to Penn State University in 2024. He signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent, but reportedly failed his physical and didn’t join the team.
