The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for Middletown and Poughkeepsie areas due to severe weather conditions.

Extreme heat conditions are predicted to linger until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24.
How hot will it get in mid-Hudson Valley?
During the extreme heat warning timeframe, the heat index is expected to rise as high as 110 degrees. It means the “feels like” temperature can be 105 degrees or higher due to a mix of heat and humidity.
The highest temperatures will be in the afternoon.
Why is this weather dangerous?
Such extreme conditions can cause heat exhaustion or heat stroke, particularly affecting seniors, children, people who are working outdoors or dealing with chronic or mental health issues, and those without air-conditioned dwellings.
The temperatures may cause heat stress and exacerbation in people with underlying ailments.
