One year after auctioning off his Super Bowl XLII ring for $280,000, former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress is now putting the ball he caught for the winning touchdown in that game up for sale.
Burress’ career went awry after scoring the winning touchdown in the Giants’ historic upset of the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
He would encounter numerous scrapes with the law and other legal issues, including serving 20 months in prison for criminal possession of a weapon stemming from the infamous incident where Burress shot himself in the leg in 2008.
Burress did play in the NFL again after his incarceration, first with the New York Jets in 2011 and then with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012.
Burress currently co-hosts the FOX Sports Radio weekend sports show, Up On Game, with another former Giant, linebacker Lavar Arrington. He has several other side businesses, such as his own hosiery and sock line and a juice bar in New Jersey.
