It’s time for Victor to play.
The town of Victor will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new-look Dryer Road Park Playground. The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 27 at the park, 7405 Dryer Road, Victor.
Installation on the playground was completed this spring, and this play area spans approximately 7,200 square feet, significantly exceeding the previous footprint of 5,500 square feet.
The project reflects the town’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity, accessibility and quality recreational spaces for families across the community, according to Councilwoman Alexis Ogra.
How did the Dryer Road Park Playground come about?
Town residents who answered a survey in September 2024 indicated an accessible playground was among their top priorities.
In December 2024, the Town Board earmarked $132,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to support the project, with additional funding drawn from the parks trust capital reserve account.
More than 15 unique designs were submitted from eight vendors, and the town selected Gametime/Marturano Recreation and sofSurfaces to bring the new playground to life, Ogra said.
What does the Dryer Road Park Playground have to offer?
The treehouse-themed playground features an Inclusive Whirl for accessible, all-ages play; ramped play structure for children ages 2 to 5; a tree swing and toddler swing; and roped climbing structure.
That’s not all.
The playground features play space for children ages 5–12, with 10-foot and 12-foot high towers and tube slides.
For those who want to take a break, two structures will provide shade and come with benches.
Rubber tile safety surfacing will replace the previous engineered wood chips.
