Elmira police bust two city stores for alleged illegal cannabis sales

Elmira police on May 29 announced they shut down the illegal sale of cannabis products at two businesses in the city.

According to officials, the Elmira Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit and the New York State Office of Cannabis Management executed search warrants on Thursday, May 28 at TAT Vibes on West Water Street and Sticky Fingers at 45 Broadway.

The warrants were obtained after a joint investigation into the alleged illegal sale of illicit cannabis at those locations, investigators said.

Authorities said police seized a “large quantity” of illegal marijuana, marijuana edibles, psilocybin mushrooms, two shotguns and U.S. currency during the searches.

Police said criminal charges will be forthcoming.

“The Elmira Police Department remains committed to identifying, investigating, and taking appropriate enforcement action against any unlicensed cannabis businesses that attempt to operate within the City of Elmira,” the agency said in a press release.

“Illegal cannabis operations undermine New York State’s regulatory framework, create unfair competition for licensed businesses, and will not be tolerated within our community.”
