New York Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson will look to make an impact throughout his first season on John Harbaugh’s coaching staff this year.
Wilson spent the past two seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans before taking the job in New York. He will have a plethora of young talent at his disposal in 2026, and Wilson could quickly have the Giants’ defense playing at an extremely high level.
Legendary Giants linebacker Carl Banks recently shared his thoughts on Wilson ahead of his first season in New York. Banks has spoken to a handful of players on the Giants’ defense about playing under Wilson in 2026.
“It is a reoccurring theme amongst the (Giants) defensive players that I’ve talked to,” Banks wrote. “They love coach [Dennard] Wilson’s defense.”
Banks is widely regarded as one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. The former Giant spent the first nine years of his career in New York, where he recorded an impressive 36 sacks and 15 forced fumbles before signing with Washington as a free agent in 1993.
Banks’ comments about his conversations with defensive players are an excellent sign for the future. Wilson will have all the tools at his disposal to succeed in 2026, and the Giants’ defensive coordinator appears to be off to a strong start ahead of his first year in New York.
