A Chemung County man charged in March with multiple child sex assault felonies in Schuyler County faces decades in prison after pleading guilty to the most serious charge.

Kenneth G. Morales, 30, of Elmira, pleaded guilty Thursday, July 16 in Schuyler County Court to two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, a Class A-II felony.

During his plea, Morales admitted he engaged in oral sexual conduct with two children under the age of 13 between October 2020 and June 2021.

Morales was initially arraigned in Schuyler County Court in March of this year on three counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, and first-degree attempted rape, all felonies, along with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

In New York state, the maximum sentence for predatory sexual assault against a child is 25 years to life in prison. Schuyler County Judge Matthew C. Hayden scheduled sentencing for Morales for Sept. 10.

The case was prosecuted by Schuyler County District Attorney Jeremy J. Hourihan.
