The body of a woman was recovered from the Genesee River in Rochester on Aug. 19, according to Rochester Police.
Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department said that a fisherman spotted the body of a woman while underneath the Driving Park Avenue bridge near Maplewood Park in Rochester around 7:15 a.m.
The angler called 911 and Rochester officers and firefighters recovered the woman’s body.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the woman’s identity and cause of death, Bello said.
It was no immediately clear how the woman came to be in the Genesee River or how long she was in the water.
