State champion Chester finished as the top-ranked Class B baseball team in the final New York State Sportswriters Association rankings.
Section 9 champs Monroe-Woodbury and Cornwall each finished No. 2 in their respective classes and Chapel Field finished fourth.
Chester claimed the title with three victories in the state tournament — at the Final Four, the Hambletonians beat Center Moriches 5-2 and Medina 3-0.
Cornwall beat Kennedy 5-3 in the state semifinals and was one win from a perfect season before the Dragons fell to West Genesee 4-0 in the Class AA championship.
Monroe-Woodbury beat Mamaroneck 8-5 in the Class AAA quarterfinals but fell to Massapequa 5-3 in the semifinals.
Chapel Field lost to Saratoga Catholic 7-0 in the Class C quarterfinals.
In all, Section 9 schools earned 16 spots in the polls, from the top-25 to honorable mention nods.
