The New York Jets know where their 2025 NFL regular season journey will take them.
The league released the schedules for every team on Wednesday, including the green and white’s.
After taking a look at it, what stands out for New York?
Here are seven takeaways from the Jets’ 2025 schedule:
Opener potential
The Jets could… could… see an old friend in Week 1. New York welcomes the Pittsburgh Steelers to MetLife Stadium for their season opener. The contest could feature Aaron Rodgers as the Steelers quarterback… but he is not for now. Rodgers is just heavily connected to Pittsburgh… but he is taking his time in no surprise.
Tough start for Justin
It’s Justin Fields time. He’s going to have a couple of tough tasks early as the QB in New York.
According to ESPN, the defenses the Jets face early include five teams that ranked in the top-10 opponent QBR last season: Steelers (first), Buffalo Bills (second), Denver Broncos (third), Miami Dolphins (sixth) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10th).
All those outings are in the team’s first six games of the season.
Good travel notes
The Jets rank near the middle-of-the-pack in terms of miles traveled overall in 2025 with the 19th most in the NFL. However, reading between the lines does make it seem even better.
First, New York has a few two-game road trips… but nothing more than that. Not having a three-gamer is nice.
In addition, between traveling to the Dolphins in Week 4 and Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15, the furthest distance the Jets will go is the Cincinnati Bengals. Not exactly a strenuous travel schedule in the middle of the season.
Not a lot of prime-time games just yet
Barring late-season contests being flexed, the Jets do not feature on prime-time football often.
First the Jets will battle the Dolphins on “Monday Night Football” in Week 4. Technically London games and “Thursday Night Football” are not considered prime-time contests in some circles. However New York will be across the Atlantic in Week 6 (Broncos) and have a Thursday matchup against the New England Patriots in Week 11.
The perfect bye?
The Jets have a Week 9 bye. That’s smack in the middle of the year. Some would call that the perfect time for a bye.
A great stretch run
If we’re basing it off of last season, the Jets finish the 2025 season with a winnable stretch. Five of the Jets’ final six opponents failed to reach the playoffs last season. Those games include the Jaguars, Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, Patriots and New Orleans Saints.
The Pats are the team in that group hoping to take a step forward, but they still only won four games in 2024.
Historic finish
New York will hope Week 18 means something regarding the playoffs. Regardless of the way the Bills’ season goes, the finale will mean something in Buffalo.
The Jets are set to be the Bills’ final opponent at their current stadium before their new one opens in 2026.
