3 toughest matchups New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart will face in 2026

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will have the opportunity to earn statement wins against three of the NFL’s best defenses next season.

Dart is expected to take the next step in his development during his second year as the Giants’ starting quarterback. The Ole Miss product is slated to start from Week 1, providing him with a strong platform to deliver a season worthy of recognition.

The defending champion Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, and Philadelphia Eagles represent the three toughest matchups Dart will face in 2026. All three teams possess the talent to pressure him in the pocket and challenge him down the field. Overcoming those challenges would mark major accomplishments for the young quarterback.

Week 7: Houston Texans

The Texans boast two of the league’s most elite defenders anchoring their unit. Edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2025, while cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., also a first-team All-Pro, will likely shadow Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Dart will face a formidable test on the road in Houston. The Texans allowed the second-fewest points in the NFL last season. They also ranked third in interceptions (19) and sixth in passing touchdowns allowed (20). A victory over Houston would be a significant statement win for Dart.

Weeks 9 and 18: Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles possess perhaps the strongest secondary in the NFL. Traveling to Philadelphia in Week 9 will present Dart with one of the toughest road environments he will encounter, as first-team All-Pro cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean lock down the outside and slot, respectively.

That defensive strength poses a major challenge for the Giants, who will rely heavily on wide receivers Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Darnell Mooney in the passing game. Dart’s precision and decision-making will be thoroughly tested. The matchups against Philadelphia will give him a chance to showcase his full abilities as a passer, beyond the arm talent he has already demonstrated.

Week 14: Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are loaded across the defensive side of the ball. Second-team All-Pro defensive tackle Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy create immediate pressure up the middle, making it difficult to stay comfortable in the pocket. DeMarcus Lawrence and Derick Hall played key roles in the Seahawks’ Super Bowl run last season, effectively neutralizing Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

Seattle’s secondary is equally talented, featuring second-team All-Pro cornerback Devon Witherspoon, Josh Jobe, and star safety Nick Emmanwori.

One key area Dart will need to improve in 2026 is his effectiveness as a scrambler outside the pocket. While the Utah native appears poised for significant growth, the all-around pressure from the Seahawks will present his toughest challenge of the season — testing him both before and after he attempts to locate his receivers downfield.
