Florida State needs a boost to their 2027 recruiting class, and fast. They’re currently ranked 31st in the nation and sixth in the ACC for the cycle.
They have some elite targets, and four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune is certainly a key player they’re trying to land. He’s set to take his official visit to FSU on June 5, and Matt LaSerre of Warchant feels he’s the most important one of the summer that the program needs to nail.
LeJeune is currently Florida State’s best chance of adding a top-100 caliber player to this class. FSU has led for a big portion of this recruitment and will need to keep its foot on the gas in hopes of landing him.
Multiple high-profile programs have recently gotten visits from the top-defensive lineman, including LSU and Auburn. However, the Mississippi standout is only taking officials to Auburn, Cal, Mississippi State and Florida State.
The Seminoles last hosted LeJeune back in March. In April, he declared they were the top school in his recruitment.
“Florida State is definitely leading,” LeJeune told Rivals. “They’ve been with me the whole way and they’ve been so consistent. I’ve been to Florida State nine times, and every time I go back, it gets better.”
LeJeune is the No. 125 overall player nationally and the No. 12 defensive lineman according to Rivals’ industry rankings. In the state of Mississippi, he’s the No. 4 prospect.
His junior season was highly productive at Poplarville High School. LeJeune tallied 58 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and five blocked field goals.
Four-star edge Anthony Cavallaro is the only commitment on the defensive line for Florida State in the 2027 cycle. A player like LeJeune would be a great piece to pair with him in the trenches.
