New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart flashed his potential on numerous occasions during his rookie campaign last year.
Dart was selected by the Giants with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The former Ole Miss star excels both on the ground and through the air, and he could quickly reach an even higher level during his sophomore campaign in 2026.
Many Giants fans and analysts grew frustrated with aspects of his playing style at times last year, despite his overall success. Dart often struggled to protect himself while scrambling, resulting in unnecessary hits on a weekly basis.
New York has made Dart’s protection a priority this offseason. The rising star will reportedly remain just as aggressive on the ground this year, as Giants analyst Dan Duggan recently outlined regarding the team’s plan for the talented quarterback in Year 2.
Dart will undoubtedly need to play much smarter football to stay healthy this season. The quarterback often lowered his shoulder in an attempt to gain extra yardage during his rookie campaign, putting himself in multiple situations where he could have been seriously injured.
In total, Dart was checked for a concussion four times and entered protocol once, missing two games as a result.
Should he remain healthy, Dart could quickly elevate his game to an even higher level in 2026, and he will look to avoid unnecessary contact at all costs throughout his second year.
