3 quick observations from Day 1 of Jets 2026 NFL minicamp

The New York Jets have taken the field for the start of their 2026 NFL minicamp schedule this week.

The Jets got things going on Tuesday with Day 1 of the three-day event.

It’s one of the first chances for the new defensive scheme Glenn wants to run during the 2026 NFL season to get on the same page. The same can be said for the new-look offense with quarterback Geno Smith under center.

With the dust settling on the first day of workouts, here are Jets Wire’s three quick observations from Day 1 of 2026 minicamp:

QB play

The Jets ran some team drills right out of the gate on Day 1. Both Geno Smith and backup Bailey Zappe showed out with some decent play during full-team, 11 vs. 11 work:

Who was not there?

The Jets had full attendance at the start of minicamp, according to head coach Aaron Glenn. However, Glenn announced fourth-round rookie QB Cade Klubnik was on the sideline because of injury.

But reportedly Glenn left potentially two other players off the list: Tight ends Jelani Woods and rookie Kenyon Sadiq did not partake in workouts.

Name to watch

AD Mitchell is the player many are already watching this offseason. The wide receiver made the best play of the day at the start of minicamp:
