When will trick-or-treating be held in Ames, Boone and Story County?

Get your costumes ready and grab sacks and buckets because Halloween season in the Ames area brings many opportunities for trick-or-treating.

An Ames family tradition continues this Halloween season as Downtown Trick or Treat returns for 2025.

More than 45 downtown businesses will welcome costumed kids from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30. Everyone is encouraged to dress up, including parents.

The event in the Ames Main Street district includes the Ames Public Library, where kids will receive a treat and young children will also receive books, while supplies last.

When can kids trick-or-treat in the Ames area?

Halloween will be jam-packed with trick-or-treat events throughout the area.
