Two died after a UTV crash in eastern Iowa on Sunday, May 24, including a 4-year-old boy.
Lon Leroy Bennett, 61, of Wheatland, and Harold L. Bennett, 4, were in a deadly UTV crash around 3:20 p.m. Sunday in rural Clinton County, on private property between Wheatland and Calamus, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol. There were no other vehicles involved.
Lon Bennett, the driver of the 2013 Polaris UTV, drove off the trail into a watercourse where the UTV flipped on its top. Lon Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene. Harold Bennett, the passenger, was transported to Genesis DeWitt Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
The Iowa State Patrol and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the crash.
