Iowa City High girls thrower Rachel Haack and Iowa City West boys sprinter Neil James were voted by readers as the Press-Citizen’s high school athletes of the Week for March 23-29.
Haack was voted girls Athlete of the Week with 55% of the vote.
Haack set a new school shot-put record at the Lady Lancer Relays on March 26.
She recorded a winning throw of 43 feet, which is a Drake Relays blue standard. She also placed second in discus (124 feet, 8 inches).
James won boys Athlete of the Week with 43% of the vote.
James had a strong Saturday at the Trojan Relays on March 28.
He won the 100 meters (11.38) and 200 meters (22.90). He also helped the 4×100 team earn third place.
