Fans of “The Larry Meiller Show” will get a chance to celebrate the host’s nearly 60 years on Wisconsin Public Radio when he takes a victory lap in Green Bay ahead of his retirement.
For “An Evening with Larry Meiller: Green Bay,” he’ll sit down with executive producer Jill Nadeau at 7 p.m. May 12 at The Weidner at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to share favorite memories and humorous stories from his his popular lunchtime show. He’ll also take questions from the audience.

Described as “a dear friend to so many” and “a steady companion of the airwaves,” Meiller has been a daily presence on WPR since 1967. His weekday call-in show featuring Wisconsin-focused guests and subjects, including the environment, nature, books, gardening and home improvement, invites listeners to be part of the conversation. It started in 1978 and is still one of the most listened-to programs on the statewide radio network.
Meiller announced in December he will be retiring June 30. To celebrate a career that by his own best guess includes 13,670 shows, 27,000 topics and roughly 35,000 guests, he is making a series of appearances across the state.
“An Evening with Larry Meiller: Green Bay” is free but registration is required. People interested in attending are encouraged to sign up soon at wpr.org/presents. Doors at The Weidner will open at 6:30 p.m.
“The Larry Meiller Show” airs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays on WPR News stations, at wpr.org and on the WPR app. His “Garden Talk” segments fill each Friday’s program and are repeated from 5 to 7 a.m. Saturdays.
