Iowa football tight end George Kittle and his wife, Claire, announced a joint venture on Friday before the former Hawkeye began his ninth NFL season with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
On social media, the two revealed they are launching “The Kittle Things” podcast. While many of the NFL’s biggest stars have also started podcasts, most notably “New Heights” featuring Travis and Jason Kelce, the new show will be the first for the tight end and his wife.
The social media announcement teased guest appearances from both the sports and entertainment world, including comedian Shane Gillis and former NBA legend Charles Barkley. That reinforced the concept that football will not be the driving theme of the podcast. The announcement revealed the podcast will also focus on other interests of George (and presumably Claire), including Pokémon, Legos and wrestling.
According to the reveal, the first episode will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Although the post didn’t say where fans can find the new show, it most likely will be available on major platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.
Before the 49ers selected the tight end in the fifth round (No. 146 overall) of the 2017 NFL draft, Kittle recorded 737 yards on 48 receptions for 10 career touchdowns in 40 games played during his time with the Hawkeyes from 2012 to 2016.
