Faced with the loss of third offensive tackle Jamarco Jones for the season due to injury, the Detroit Lions have added another offensive tackle to the den. Per his agent, Elite Loyalty Sports, free agent offensive lineman Devin Cochran is signing with the Lions.
It’s unclear in what capacity Cochran is joining the team. Detroit doesn’t currently have an opening on the 53-man roster after signing RB Jacob Saylors from the practice squad to take Jones’ spot. The Lions have not officially announced the signing as of publication time.
Cochran has spent his 3-year NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals after being an undrafted free agent from Georgia Tech in the 2022 NFL Draft. While at Georgia Tech, he helped block for Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs and worked with new Lions RB coach Tashard Choice, who was on the Yellow Jackets’ staff as well.
After being on the Bengals’ practice squad as a rookie and missing his second season due to injury, Cochran finally saw action late in the 2024 season. In four games, including one start, Cochran played both left and right tackle for Cincinnati, logging 152 total snaps. He’s a behemoth of an athlete at 6-foot-7 and 310 listed pounds.
