Des Moines Police said the boy was found around 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14, inside a business at 2740 Douglas Ave. They asked for the public’s help shortly after 11 a.m. when attempts to find his family were unsuccessful. A news release said he was reunited with family about 45 minutes later.

Detectives from the department and officials from the state’s Department of Health and Human Services are investigating how the boy ended up alone in the business.
