Grocery shoppers in Central Indiana might run into actors Patrick Duffy (“Dallas,” “Step by Step”) and Linda Purl (“Happy Days,” “The Office”) this week.
The couple is promoting the rollout of Duffy’s Dough, the artisan bread they began producing to benefit hunger relief programs.
The bread is available exclusively at Kroger supermarkets.
The bread recipe traces back to a sourdough starter Duffy’s mother received as a gift in 1952. The starter was said to have originated with miners from the Alaska Gold Rush.
Duffy began baking sourdough bread for friends during the pandemic, and the response led him and Purl to found the bread company as a way to fight food insecurity.
They launched Duffy’s Dough from their Colorado garage, initially producing all-in-one kits featuring the dehydrated sourdough starter.
Kroger sells take-and-bake sourdough loaves.
Duffy’s offers five varieties – Sourdough Loaf, Multi-grain Sourdough Loaf, Artisan Sandwich Roll, French Dinner Roll and Demi Sourdough Baguette.
All of the profits go to fund hunger relief efforts.
