It will be the first meeting between the two teams. Lafayette finished last season with a 11-21 record. The Leopards ranked 326th out of 365 Division I teams per KenPom.

Nored took over as Butler’s newest coach after Thad Matta announced his retirement after the 2025-26 season. Nored played point guard under Brad Stevens on the Dawgs’ back-to-back Final Four teams. He was most recently an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks.

Butler returns starters Jalen Jackson and Drayton Jones, along with returners Kevin Ndzie, Ethan McComb and Bryson Cardinal. Butler has signed four transfers: Jordan Ellerbee (Florida Golf Coast), Treyson Anderson (North Dakota State), Eduardo Klafke (Mississippi) and Samis Calderon (Kansas), two international players (Asim Djulovic and Samu Adler) and two incoming freshmen, four-star forward Herly Brutus and former Noblesville star Baron Walker.

Butler has two open roster spots remaining.
