East Central Indiana high school softball scores, top performers from May 5-10

With sectional tournaments looming, high school softball teams across East Central Indiana are gearing up for the postseason. Here are the scores and top performers for each high school softball team in the Muncie area for the week of May 5-10:

Teams are listed in alphabetical order.

Blackford Lady Bruins (4-7)

Top Performance: Braelynn Wilson hit a sacrifice ground out for an RBI to score Blackford’s lone run against Oak Hill.

Cowan Blackhawks (6-10)

Top Performance: Despite the loss, Savannah Hall had a strong day at the plate against Union City, finishing 3-for-4 with a solo home run — her fourth homer of the season.

Daleville Broncos (13-4)

Top Performance: Emily Simmons was 3-for-3, including a triple and a home run, against Muncie Central.

Delta Eagles (6-12)

Top Performance: Kaitlynn Burns had a great day at the plate for the Eagles, finishing 4-for-4 with two triples and five RBIs.

Jay County Patriots (14-2)

Top Performance: Jaelynn Lykins was very productive against Elwood, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs — including a three-run home run.

Monroe Central Golden Bears (1-16)

Top Performance: Kloee Brannan led Monroe Central to its first win with a solid two-way outing. Brannan went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and pitched a complete game, giving up six hits and four runs (two earned) with three strikeouts.

Muncie Central Bearcats (0-15)

Top Performance: N/A

New Castle Trojans (8-6)

Top Performance: Kattie Mathews collected three hits in as many at-bats with one RBI and scored three runs against Anderson on May 8.

Shenandoah Lady Raiders (12-3)

Top Performance: Three different Raiders went deep in Shenandoah’s win over Yorktown. Lydia Schwagmeier hit a two-run home run, which was immediately followed by a solo homer by Aleyna Sharritts. Pitcher Olivia Watson also hit a solo home run and pitched a complete game in the victory.

Wapahani Lady Raiders (2-12)

Top Performance: Zoe Koger logged four RBIs on two hits against Randolph Southern, including an inside-the-park home run.

Wes-Del Warriors (10-5)

Top Performance: Kenzie Anderson went 2-for-4 and drove in four RBIs in the first round of the Delaware County Tournament against Cowan.

Winchester Community Lady Falcons (10-5)

Top Performance: Lizzie Frazier hit an RBI-single to score the go-ahead run in the sixth inning against Union City to lift Winchester to the Randolph County Championship.

Yorktown Tigers (13-3)

Top Performance: Olivia Jones put together two dominant starts inside the circle against Wes-Del and Daleville to help Yorktown clinch its second-straight Delaware County Championship. Jones combined with Hadlee Barnard for a no-hitter against Wes-Del, finishing with five strikeouts, then went the first three innings against Daleville with just one hit allowed and five more strikeouts.
