Congratulations and best wishes for your future endeavors, Edgewood High School Class of 2026.
Edgewood High School’s commencement ceremonies were Saturday morning, with about 190 Mustang students crossing the stage to receive a diploma.
Retiring Edgewood High School principal Dirk Ackerman was the commencement speaker. The school’s tradition has been for a retiring teacher or administrator to give the graduation speech. The theme of Ackerman’s talk was happiness — choosing happiness in the major decisions you make throughout life.
Before the Saturday graduation, Ackerman explained he would also share some about his career and personal experiences during his talk.
Valedictorian was Helee Patel. Salutatorian was Jack Simpson. Both also spoke during the ceremony.
Fifty-nine graduating seniors received scholarships totaling $1,921,878 to further their educational pursuits.
While many of the graduating class will attend 2- and 4-year colleges and universities, others plan to join the workforce or attend technical institutes of learning.
