Bloomington police are seeking anyone with information or videos of a shooting that happened early Saturday, June 13, in the 500 block of South Basswood Drive.
Officers responded at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday to multiple callers reporting several shots being fire in the South Basswood apartment area and stating that at least one person had been shot, according to a report by the Bloomington Police Department.
Police arriving at the scene found a 36-year-old man with gunshot wounds in both of his arms. Officers applied tourniquets and provided medical aid until emergency medical services arrived and transported the man to the local hospital.
Police spoke to many people at the scene but no arrests were made, the BPD report said. It’s unknown how many people fired weapons during a disturbance between two men. Officers found a car in the complex’s parking lot with bullet holes and an apartment wall also had damage from bullets. The apartment occupants were not injured and police do not believe they were involved in the disturbance, the report said.
While police were at the scene, the Central Emergency Dispatch Center received a call from a local hospital reporting that a 25-year-old man had checked in to the emergency department for treatment of a gunshot wound to his foot. Officers attempted to talk to the man but he refused to cooperate. It’s unknown if the man was struck by gunfire at the South Basswood Drive location or elsewhere, the BPD report said.
