SOUTH BEND — Ivy Alley Social House owners announced on Facebook that they came to the difficult decision to permanently close the establishment, with its last day of operation being May 16.
Known for bringing duckpin bowling to South Bend, Ivy Alley was opened at the end of December 2025 by parents Karen and Dave Klein and their son Nathan Klein. The social house also sells craft beer and specialty pizzas.
The business, at 321 W. Wayne St., operates out of the 100-year-old Spenner garage building.
The goal was to become a destination in South Bend, the family told The Tribune in January, and the owners put an emphasis on hosting community-engaging events such as weekly game nights, live music and trivia.
“There’s so many things that put South Bend on the map, but to be actually included in that … we’re excited,” Karen said a month after the social house opened.
Deciding to close Ivy Alley’s doors was a “heart-wrenching decision” the family wrote in the initial Facebook post.
From now until closing, Ivy Alley will be offering 25% off all food and drinks from its regular menu as well as 50% off selected wine bottles and 25% off merchandise.
The family urges customers with a gift card or coupons to use them as soon as possible.
