SOUTH BEND — Rhett, an 8-month-old basset hound from Mishawaka, won the Animal Planet Pupularity Playoffs, the channel announced Friday afternoon via a post on Facebook.
When voting closed Thursday evening, Rhett led with 56% of votes. The Facebook post didn’t say by what margin he beat Rupaw, a Boston terrier from Smyrna, Georgia.
“All ears and spirit, Rhett won the hearts of the #PuppyBowl fans,” Animal Planet said in the announcement.
Rhett is currently in foster care through Mishawaka’s Homeward Bound shelter.
As The Tribune previously reported, at 2 p.m., Sunday Feb. 8, Rhett will play in the annual Animal Planet Puppy Bowl XXII on Team Fluff.
Will Rhett help bring home the Lombarky trophy?
