Winnebago County Sheriff asking residents to report storm damage

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to report any damage sustained during the April 17 storm.

The office said it’s gathering information for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to assist with emergency response and recovery efforts.

“Reporting helps officials access the overall impact, prioritize emergency response and support potential state assistance through IEMA,” the office posted on social media. “This is for reporting purposes only and is not a request for immediate emergency services.”

The QR code can be found on the sheriff’s Facebook page.

According to the Rockton Fire Protection District, a two-story farmhouse and barn sustain major damage during the storm. Multiple downed trees and power lines also were reported.
