Florida State women’s golf is one stroke back of the lead after two rounds of the NCAA Women’s Golf Tallahassee Regional at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
The host Seminoles, who are the fourth seed in the regional, are -4 and trail only rival Florida (-5) after a rainy, storm-filled round that made scoring in red figures difficult. The start of play was pushed back with rain in the Tallahassee area, and there was an additional nearly three-hour rain delay that left the course with tough playing conditions.
Even in the rainy conditions, sophomore Alexandra Gazzoli posted a tied career-best round of 68, which puts her third in the individual leaderboard at -4, and helped keep FSU as a team in second place as the lone player under par. She is four shots back of the University of Louisiana Monroe’s Johanna Sjursen in the individual competition, who leads with -8, and two shots behind Wake Forest’s Chloe Kovelesky, who is -6.
The top five teams in the regional advance to the NCAA Championship tournament at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
FSU will look to win the program’s fourth regional championship, which would be the fourth in six seasons. The Seminoles won the Lexington Regional last season en route to a final four appearance in the tournament, and won the Tallahassee Regional in 2022 and the Louisville Regional in 2021.
The Seminoles will tee off the final round at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13. Entrance to the event at Seminole Legacy is free and live stats can be followed on Scoreboard.
