Folz was riding the motorcycle and Cain was a passenger when Folz reportedly lost control, drove off the road and crashed. Emergency responders determined they were beyond saving at the scene and coroner personnel pronounced them dead soon afterward.

Autopsies indicated Folz was killed as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and chest in the crash. Cain was killed by blunt force trauma to the head and neck because of the crash, according to preliminary information from the coroner’s office.

This incident remains under investigation by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office and the Rockford PoliceDepartment.
