Rainfall is expected to be lower than normal in most of the United States, excluding the West Coat and parts of Texas, Florida and the Northeast.

Here’s how the fall forecast looks for Illinois.

Southern Illinois will likely see a similar temperature pattern, as well as up to three inches less rainfall than normal.

Northwest Illinois is expected to be warmer than average with a dry September and up to one more inch of rainfall than normal in October.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts equal chances of above-normal, near-normal or below-normal temperatures and precipitation in Illinois between September and November.

This means there are no strong signs yet indicating one possibility over the others.

For much of the rest of the country, the NOAA forecasts above-normal temperatures and precipitation.
