A Peoria woman was arrested Sunday night and is accused of stabbing a man during a domestic dispute in north Peoria earlier that day.
Makiah D. Baker, 23, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. on charges of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and criminal damage to property following the stabbing of a man at a home in the 10000 block of North Sleepy Hollow Road earlier that day.
According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded to the home at 3:11 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen.
The man told police that he had been involved in a domestic dispute with a woman when he was stabbed. The woman, later revealed to be Baker, had fled the area on foot before police arrived.
The man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries while police searched for Baker. She was eventually found that night at the home and was taken into custody without incident.
Baker is currently being held at the Peoria County Jail awaiting a first court appearance.
