Peoria Christian track athlete voted high schools girls athlete of the week, presented by CEFCU

Addie Lehman of the Peoria Christian track & field team was voted the Journal Star high school girls athlete of the week for March 9-14, presented by CEFCU.

The junior began her season with a personal best last week. Lehman won the pole vault in 11’7.75″ at the Central Illinois High Performance Classic hosted by Illinois College on Friday. This was Lehman’s second victory of the indoor season. Her height is the best vault in Class 1A this season. Lehman took third last season at the Class 1A state finals.

Dusti Smith, Stark County track & field

The junior started her season with a trio of victories last week. Smith won three events Friday at the 16th annual Lincoln Trail Conference Indoor Exhibition hosted by Monmouth College. Her individual win came with a 1600-meter victory (5:12.35) by over 2.5 seconds. She then was the anchor on the winning 4×400 (4:25.70) and 4×800 (10:27.67) relay teams. Smith is coming off a sophomore season where she was a three-time Class 1A state qualifier.

Makaylynne Correa, Canton track & field

The senior picked up her second indoor victory last week. Correa won the shot put Friday at the Jacksonville Invitational hosted by Illinois College. Her throw of 36’11 was just short of her season personal best. She holds the fourth-best Class 2A toss this indoor season. Correa was a Class 2A state qualifier last season in the shot put.

Audrey Dickinson, Illini Bluffs track & field

The freshman began her season with a pair of wins. In the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars Indoor Exhibition hosted by Monmouth College, Dickinson won the 400-meter dash (1:03.22) and 800-meter run (2:28.32) in personal best times. She then teamed with Morgan Dickinson, Sage Johnson and Whitney Parker to anchor the second-place 4×400-meter relay (4:28.41).
