A man was shot and killed at a South Peoria gas station Wednesday night, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.

A 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night after he was shot at the Phillips 66 gas station on Western Avenue, Harwood said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Peoria police located a second gunshot victim, a 19-year-old man, in front of the AutoZone store near the gas station. He was transported to the hospital with none-life-threatening injuries.
That is the same gas station where a Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured by gunfire in January.
It marked the city’s second homicide of 2026. The victim’s identity will be released at a later time.
