No injuries were reported following a house fire and partial roof collapse May 15 in Galesburg.
According to the Galesburg Fire Department, crews responded around 10:01 a.m. to a structure fire at 441 North. Broad Street, where they encountered heavy smoke and flames from a two-story home. All occupants had evacuated prior to their arrival.
Following a partial roof collapse and related structural concerns, firefighters withdrew from the building and shifted to defensive operations, using multiple hose lines and an aerial ladder to contain the blaze and protect nearby homes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Galesburg Fire Department investigators.
