The U.S. House passed $1.2 trillion in government funding that includes $10 billion in funding for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, amid intense controversy over ICE and the Department of Homeland Security’s tactics in raids throughout the country.
The spending package allocates $64.4 billion to the Department of Homeland Security in total. It passed 220-207, with seven Democrats voting yes. All but one Republican voted for it.

The bill next goes to the U.S. Senate
The legislation will now head to the Senate, where Democrats will be forced to decide whether to fund DHS through the year without many of the guardrails they’ve wanted – or risk another partial government shutdown that could begin on Jan. 31.
