In an emotional sign-off, Jenise Rebholz said farewell to WEEK-TV viewers at the end of her last broadcast with the news station.
“I want to talk about how lucky I am to have a job that is so hard to walk away from,” she said on June 16.
Rebholz, a Metamora native and 2016 Bradley graduate, said she began her career with the “most influential rejection of my life.” After completing an internship, she applied for a reporter position.
“I was told ‘No, you’re not ready,’” Rebholz said in a video posted to Facebook. “And it fueled my fire to prove them wrong.”
Offered a producer position with WEEK in 2016, she saw the role as an opportunity to get her foot in the door and establish herself. Over the next decade, she became a reporter before transitioning to her role as an anchor.
During the final moments of her last broadcast, Rebholz fought back tears and thanked her parents for instilling her with a strong work effort and for their unwavering support of her career. She also thanked her husband, Kyle, for supporting her “weird hours,” listening to “endless news stories,” and “doing bedtime solo with the boys for years.”
While she has left WEEK, Rebholz has no intention of leaving central Illinois. She said she will not be a “stay-at home mom,” and teased her next job at Caterpillar.
“I hope I look good in Big Yellow,” she said.
