The Chicago Bears made a pair of waiver claims following the roster cutdown deadline to bolster their defense. The Bears claimed former New Orleans Saints linebacker D’Marco Jackson and Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jaylon Jones off waivers. Chicago was No. 10 in the waiver order.
Both players are coming to the Bears in a reunion of sorts. Jackson was with the Saints from 2023 through 2024 as a reserve linebacker and played under Dennis Allen, the Bears’ defensive coordinator. Jackson has 26 career tackles and one fumble recovery in two seasons.
Jones, meanwhile, returns to the Bears after a brief stint with the Cardinals. He signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and earned a spot on the roster as a reserve defensive back for three seasons before departing in free agency. Jones has plenty of familiarity with the secondary and should be able to step in quickly should he be called upon. Jones has started a total of five games in three years, totaling 85 tackles, one for loss, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
