The announcement comes from a news release from the FBI Springfield Field Office from May 20. The release did not specify the timeframe for the operation but did say the operation targeted “high-impact fugitives” in the region.

Along with the arrests, law enforcement also seized seven illegal firearms, more than $8,000 in narcotics-related currency, 4,195 grams of marijuana, 781 grams of unidentified pills, 50 grams cocaine and 234 grams of methamphetamine.

Operation Viper was led by the FBI Springfield Field Office with significant support from the United States Marshals Service, Decatur Police Department and Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office.

“The success of Operation Viper highlights the seamless integration of federal, state, and local law enforcement,” Ryan Presley, FBI Springfield Field Office’s Special Agent in Charge, said in the release.
