The Women’s Giving Alliance, a group of women who pool their resources to support shared causes, recently awarded $675,000 in grants to 10 Jacksonville-area nonprofits.
The alliance, an initiative of The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, also launched a public matching 25th-anniversary fundraising campaign to further address its current focus — violence against women and girls.
The latest grants went to nonprofits that provide mental health and wellness, crisis and trauma prevention and response, housing stability, survivor care and short- and long-term support services.
“Violence against women and girls is not just a women’s issue, it affects families, workplaces, schools and our entire region,” Sabeen Perwaiz, the alliance’s president, said. “We’re grateful to our members for making these grants possible and we invite the community to give to our 25th-anniversary matching campaign, so that we can … improve the lives of more women and girls next year.”
Five of the nonprofits will receive two-year grants:
Five nonprofits will receive one-year, $10,000 grants, as well as a secondary $2,500 grant to help build capacity:
For the fundraising campaign, philanthropist Delores Barr Weaver offered a dollar-for-dollar match for contributions up to $150,000 through Sept. 30 for the alliance’s 2027 grantmaking.
